Ariel Pollock joined the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai as Public Affairs Officer in August 2014. A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, Ariel comes to India from the State Department’s Foreign Press Center in New York where she worked with foreign correspondents from South, Central, and East Asia covering the United States. She has served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, and Assistant Information Officer and Deputy Spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. Other diplomatic assignments include Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and a previous posting to Chennai. Ariel is a recipient of the State Department’s Franklin, Meritorious, and Superior Honor awards, as well as the Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship and the Institute for International Public Policy Fellowship. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ariel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master of Public Policy in International Security and Economic Policy from the University of Maryland’s School of Public Affairs.
